Whoever wishes to study at the University of Bern has to apply for admission in time at the Admissions Office. If not stated differently the same matriculation regulations apply as for prospective students with Swiss qualifications.

| • | Language Requirements - Admission to Bachelor programme: Non-native German speakers are required to provide proof of their German language ability. - Admission to Master programme: Prospective Master students do not have to prove their German language proficiency. However, depending on the course of study, they might have to provide proof of their English language ability; see checklist of the relevant course of study. |
| • | Entrance Examination in Zurich if required in the list of countries 4.7 of the current admission requirements; only required at Bachelor level Holders of a recognised 1st university degree (minimum duration of study: 3 years) do not have to take the entrance examination in Zurich! |
| • | Since courses of study in Human, Dental and Veterinary Medicine are drawing large numbers of students the chances of being admitted are very low for foreign students with foreign qualifications and living abroad. » |
